Wanda Ewald Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch on Oct. 5, 2010.
EWALD, Wanda Lou, 73, of Mechanicsville, Va., devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, slipped peacefully from this life with her family by her side on Sunday, October 3, 2010. She was born in Constantine, Michigan on October 24, 1936. She is survived by her loving husband, Theodore J. Ewald; daughters, Ronda Loyer and her husband, James and Kimberly Ewald; son, Mark Ewald and his wife, Indy; grandchildren, Jason Loyer, Chris Harmon, Jacki Kiereck, Will Ewald and Mimi Ewald; great-grandchildren, Fletcher and Dashel Loyer; brothers-in- law, Bill Ewald and wife, Pat, Fred Ewald, Herb Ewald and wife, Judy; sister-in-law, Marlene Newbaker and husband, Phil; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Wanda lived a full and happy life. She had recently celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary with a trip to Bermuda that she dearly treasured. She had a wonderful gift of hospitality and you were made to feel welcome in her home. Many a fine meal was served up with love and laughter and you never left the table without Wanda telling you a story or two. She will be remembered forever by her warm smile, but most of all with her courageous battle with cancer. The family will receive friends at the Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Road, Mechanicsville, on Thursday, October 7, from 3 to 4 p.m. A memorial service will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hanover Relay For Life.

Dear Uncle Ted, and my wonderful cousins, Rhonda, Kim and Mark,

I am so sorry that you have lost such a beautiful wife and mother, and my dearest Aunt Wanda. There are no words to express how badly I feel, but yet I also feel such a special bond with all of you because of losing my mom only two weeks before. As Uncle Ted said, there are so many parallels between the two and though we are all stunned and filled with grief, perhaps in some strange way this was meant to be so neither of them would make their final trip alone. You are all in my prayers and in my heart. All of your fond memories will help you all to come through this with more love than you already have for Wanda. Please take care of yourselves, and know that I am here for you in any way I can be. I love you all! May God Bless all of you and your families.

Love,
Lori
