WILLIAM FOSTER Obituary

Published by Bliley's Funeral Home - Chippenham on Jan. 6, 2010.
FOSTER, William F., passed peacefully from this world into the joy of Heaven on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at CJW Johnston-Willis Hospital, Richmond, Va. Mr. Foster was born in Roslyn, Long Island, N.Y. on January 30, 1915, the son of William F. Foster Sr. and Sadie Foster (nee Sexton). He graduated from Roslyn High School and worked in private business until the outbreak of WWII, when he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving honorably in the Mediterranean and in Italy. Upon his discharge from the Army, he returned home and married the former Lillian Bullock of Richmond, Va. on December 19, 1946. The couple then made their home in Richmond after a brief stay in Roslyn. Mr. Foster was a founding member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Midlothian, Va. As an avid woodworker and hobbyist, Mr. Foster crafted wooden plaques depicting signs of the Apostles, which exemplify his faith and his love of woodcraft and for the church. Mr. Foster is survived by five nieces, several great-nephews and great-nieces and also leaves several great-great-nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years in May 2005; and his sister, Muriel Foster Jacobsen in 1996. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, January 8, 2010 at St. Mark's United Methodist Church. The Rev. David Bonney will officiate. Committal service will follow at Dale Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark's Methodist Church, 11551 Lucks Lane, Midlothian, Va. 23113.
