Dr Hancock was our family physician for all my childhood. He was loved by my entire family.

Dr. Hancock quite literally saved my life when I was in my twenties. My mom worked for him for a long time, but he became more of a family friend than a parental employer. The whole family still has fond memories of his patience and humor, and he will be missed.

On the morning of November 14, 1965, I was sitting restlessly in the waiting room at Stuart Circle Hospital when a gentleman with reddish hair, freckles and a broad smile announced that I was the father of a beautiful healthy little girl. He introduced himself and said that he would like to be our family physician. That began a wonderful relationship with the good Doctor that lasted until his retirement from private practice. In addition to being a wonderful doctor he was a friend. He loved a good joke and would laugh heartily at his own stories. I always felt at ease with him. I lovingly called him “Wild Bill”. He was a great man who I know will be missed. Please accept our sincere condolences.

I will always remembered the times I walked into Dr. Hancock's office to be greeted warmly by his staff and him. He fixed my dislocated toe, pierced my ears and most of all tickled my funny bone. He never let a good joke get away! My thoughts are with you at this time. He will be greatly missed by us all.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this time. I will always have many memories of Dr. Hancock, as my doctor for the first 25 to 30 years of life, as a friend of my parents, and some interesting fishing trips/experiences on the Chesapeake Bay.

Dear Doris, Cary, Billy, John, Patsy and Family,
"Beloved Doc"...I can't believe he is gone! He leaves all of us with so many wonderful memories to cherish! He was an incredible Boss, Friend and Humman Being... The nine years I worked for him at Home Beneficial were filled with laughter, kindness, love, generosity and sunshine....I truly cherish each and everyone of those days. Also i'll never forget the special times spent with Doc and Doris at the Horse Races, their home and down at the beloved barn. He will truly be missed but NEVER FORGOTTEN!!!

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived. My condolences to the family. Dr. Hancock was Medical Director when I worked at Home Beneficial. He was always nice to everyone, and everytime I would visit his office, he always talked about his love for is horses, which he had pictures of them on the wall. He will be missed by many who loved him.

To the Hancock family, thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time. I stepped many times into his offices (first in the Cox Medical Building), usually asking if I was going to get a shot! He watched me grow up, but I don't think I thought of him as growing old. Another great man has left this world, and may you all find comfort in your many memories.

Dear Doris, Cary, Billy, John and Family,
I send you my condolences and prayers. I loved this man like a father. I cherish the memories I have of him when we worked together. I always looked forward to going to work each day just to spend time with Doc. He taught me so much more about life. Debbie (Stells) Fayman
