Francis Carr Obituary

Francis A. Carr, age 84 of Lafayette Hill, died Wednesday, March 14, 2012 in Chestnut Hill Hospital of Chestnut Hill. Husband of Anne (Melle) Brooks-Carr. Born in Conshohocken, PA on January 24, 1928, he was the son of the late Marie (O'Brien) and William H. Carr, Sr. Mr. Carr has been living in Lafayette Hill and is formerly of Punta Gorda, Fl where he lived for ten years, and also lived in Plymouth Meeting. He graduated from St. Matthews High School Class of 1946, where he played and lettered in Football. He was a member of St. Philip Neri RC Church of Lafayette Hill, and a former member of Epiphany of Our Lord RC Church of Plymouth Meeting. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Conshohocken & Punta Gorda. He was a retired tavern owner and had owned the Marble Hall Inn of Lafayette Hill, Pa , Valley Tavern of Plymouth Meeting, Pa , Carr "N" Net of East Norriton, Pa and the Carr Stop of Whitpain Twp., Pa Francis is survived, in addition to his wife, by his sons: Kevin Carr of Laurel Springs, NJ, Patrick Carr of Golden, CO, James Carr of Allentown, and Joseph Carr of West Chester; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean (Cardamone) Carr; two sons, Francis and Daniel Carr; two brothers, William and Joseph Carr; and a sister, Elizabeth Luhrs. His Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday March 17 at 10 AM from the St. Philip Neri RC Church 437 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill, Pa 19444 with Msgr. Charles P. Vance officiating. Friends may call Saturday from 8 to 9 AM at the Moore & Snear Funeral Home, 300 Fayette Street Conshohocken PA 19428. Interment St. Matthew's Cemetery, Conshohocken.

I REMEMBER MR.CARR WHEN HE RAN THE VALLEY TAVERN IN 1970. I CAME HOME FROM VIETNAM IN LATE JULY THAT YEAR AND HE WELCOMED ME HOME & BOUGHT ME A DRINK. HE WAS A GOOD MAN AND A FINE AMERICAN. GOD BLESS HIM & HIS FAMILY.
