Ruby Lee Shields was born July 26, 1950 in Vicksburg, Miss., to the union of Nancy and William Shields. In 1952, she, along with her family, moved to Vallejo, Calif.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and joined with the Union Baptist Church. In December 1988, she re-dedicated her life to the Lord and became a faithful member of the Old Path COGIC until she departed this life.
Ruby was a Certified Nurse Assistant and worked for more than 20 years in that profession.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Annie Shields; and brothers, William Shields-Davis, Walter Robert Gadson, John Thomas Shields and Rev. Isaac Anderson Jr..
She leaves to mourn, one son, Lloyd Franklin Jr. of Vallejo; one sister, Odessa Pinnock of Fairfield; three brothers, George (Loretta) McClain of Vallejo, Gloster McClain of Vallejo and Pastor Vincent (Yvonne) Gadson of Vacaville; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. with a quiet hour beginning at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 16, at Wiggins-Knipp Funeral Home, 524 Capitol St., Vallejo. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, at Old Path Church of God in Christ, 500 Arkansas St., Vallejo. Burial to follow at Skyview Memorial Lawn, Vallejo.
