Loretta Elaine Marteusz
(Auntie) passed away quietly at her home on Dec. 23, 2010. She was born on June 2, 1912 to Albert and Adeline Scicchitano in Pennsylvania and it was there she met her husband, Edward. They moved to Vallejo in 1952 where they bought their beloved home. Edward (Uncle Eddie) passed away in August 2004 and has been missed everyday by all who knew him.
Auntie will always be remembered for opening her home to family and friends, year round, but especially during the holidays. Her cooking was legendary as well as her many kinds of delicious cookies. Who could ever forget the lasagna and wedding soup that were her specialties. Another wonderful trait was the way Auntie and Uncle Eddy were always there to help friends and family when they needed it the most.
Auntie worked for many years in Vallejo at Crawley's and Levee's department stores and donated considerable time with the Retail Clerks Union, Sons and Daughters of Italy, St. Basil's Catholic Church and the Altar Society, all of which her passion and hobbies.
Auntie is survived by her sister, Esther (Tutu) Mauser; nieces, Jeanne Doty, Dedria Catalano and Karen Stevenson; and nephews, Marlin Mauser and Steve Scicchitano. She also leaves several great and great-great nieces and nephews who always lit up her eyes and whose names she would always remember.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, at St. Basil's Catholic Church, Vallejo, followed by internment at All Souls Cemetery, Vallejo.

I remember Loretta well from back about 1953 when she worked with my mother at Crowleys Dept. Store on Georgia St. I would have been 8 and I would go in the store usually to get .10 or .15 to go to the Dime store a couple doors down. Loretta, Evelyn, Dorothy, and Gordon would huddle around to talk with me. Those were great never forgotten times. I am so happy she was able to live a very full life and that all of her loved ones had her in your lives to share for so long.
