NANTICOKE — Cleveland Robert Elmy Sr., 84, of Nanticoke, passed away Monday, May 1, 2017, at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born Feb. 17, 1933, in Nanticoke, Cleveland was the son of the late Francis and Mildred (Walk) Elmy. Cleveland attended Newport School. He was a proud member of the U.S. Army and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners Union Local 645.
Cleveland enjoyed NASCAR, sports, building and fixing things; but most of all, being with his family.
Cleveland was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Bray.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara (Bryce) Elmy; his sons, Cleveland Jr. and Mauri Elmy, Francis and Karen Elmy, Brian and Jackie Elmy, Randy Elmy; daughters, Debra Elmy and Joe Pedula, Tammy Bieleck; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are Cleveland's brothers, John and George; sisters, Evelynn, Estelle, Thelma; numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Stanley S. Stegura Funeral Home Inc., 614 S. Hanover St., Nanticoke. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
