Charles Remas Obituary

WEST PITTSTON — Charles C. "Chuckie" Remas, 52, of West Pittston, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013.

Born in Pittston on Jan. 4, 1961, he was a son of the late Charles and Stella Godula Remas. He was a graduate of Pittston Area High School and was self-employed as owner/operator of C.R. Fence and C.R. Tan.

He truly was a man who can never be replaced. His robust flavor for life and living and his bigger-than-life jovial personality resonated wherever he went. He knew how to deal with every situation he was challenged with. When someone was invited to a family gathering or any type of event, their first words were always, "Is Charlie going?"

If laughs and smiles, which he gave people, could determine a man's worth in life, he would have been the richest man on the planet.

He had an extreme passion for the outdoors, being an avid fisherman and hunter, and was a great cook. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, whether it be at his kitchen table or in a grand ballroom. If anyone ever needed a hand with a project or family emergency, whether day or night, local or hundreds of miles away, everyone knew Charlie would be there no matter what.

If Charlie wasn't working or in the outdoors he could be found with his best friend and wife, Bernice. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all and will be greatly missed.

Charlie has been taken away at such a young age, but in that time he has seen and done more than a person twice his age. His life can be summed up by the following quote:

"Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die today." - James Dean

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Chester Remas; brothers-in-law, George Dructor and Francis Swenton Jr.; and mother-in-law, Marilyn Swenton, who just passed in November 2013.

Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Bernice Swenton Remas; daughters, Amber and her fiance, Jay Weeks, Kingston, and Briana, at home; and Angel, his beloved pet. Also surviving are sister, Martha Dructor, Pittston; brother, Albert Remas, Pittston; niece, Denise Mulé and her husband, Jim, Pittston; nephew, George Dructor and his wife, Rita, Pittston; nephew, Jeffrey Remas and his wife, Lynette, Florida; niece, Monica Alba and her husband, Michael, Lords Valley; nephews, Chester Remas, Florida, and Curtis Remas, Pittston; father-in-law, Francis Swenton Sr., West Pittston; sister-in-law, Theresa Zimmerman, Erie; brothers-in-law, Ron Swenton and his wife, Kathe, Long Island, N.Y., and Christopher Swenton, Florida; honorary grandson, Trystan Weeks, Kingston; and other numerous nieces and nephews.

The family thanks the Red Cross of Wyoming/Susquehanna Counties, all state and local agencies involved, Tyler Memorial Hospital and Mr. Michael Podwika. You have all made such a trying time more tolerable with your compassion and the daunting task you had to endure. To all of Chuckie's friends who stayed with us, there are no words that can express our gratitude.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of the Eucharist Parish, 535 N. Main St., Pittston. Those attending are asked to go directly to church Monday. Entombment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, 251 William St., Pittston.

The family requests that flowers be omitted.

There are no words more true than Chuckie cannot be replaced. God bless Chuckie's family and more importantly God bless Chuckie. He was a good man. I am honored to know him. Each time I look at my fence that surrounds my home, I will think of him. He put a railing and gate on our front porch and was so attentive to make sure our Susie could not get out. Chuckie is the best without a doubt. Heaven is surely gaining an Angel, a loud Angel, but still an Angel, rest in peace Chuckie
