Ronald Brezinski Obituary

July 27, 2010

Ronald Stanley Brezinski, 59, of Hanover Street, Nanticoke, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning, July 27, 2010, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital shortly after admission. He was born in Nanticoke, March 27, 1951, and was a son of Henry and Eleanor Rushin Brezinski and a member of Holy Trinity Church, now St. Faustina Parish, Nanticoke. Ronald was a graduate of Nanticoke High School, class of 1969, and was a member of the high school football team. He continued his education at Ursinus College and Bloomsburg University, graduating in 1973 with a bachelor's degree in biology. He was employed by the Department of Environmental Protection for 36 years, most recently as a Section Chief. Ronald coached Little League baseball for many years with the Kiwanis League and was an avid athlete and runner, recently running the 10K Boulder to Bolder in Colorado this past Father's Day. His unexpected passing left many people with deep sadness, but he will be fondly remembered as a loving and wonderful son, husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather and a genuine friend to many. He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Mary and Joseph Rushin, paternal grandparents Louis and Sophie Danielowicz (Stanley Brezinski), and brother-in-law Richard Kinder. Presently surviving, in addition to Ronald's parents, is his wife, the former Leslie Kinder, with whom he would have celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary in August of this year; Leslie's parents, Richard and Patricia Kinder, Nanticoke; daughters Kristen Bene' and husband Nick, Fort Collins, Colo.; Dr. Kara Brezinski-Clark and husband Sean, Dallas; and one grandson, Owen Henry Clark; brother Robert Brezinski and wife Gloria; sisters Debbie Goodman, Judy Shales and husband Keith, Trisha Bowalick and husband Greg; as well as nieces and nephews Tracy Gonda; Max Gonda; Rachel Brezinski Pettit; Lauren, Kaitlin and Kyle Bowalick; and Zachary Shales. The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from the Grontkowski Funeral Home P.C., 51 W. Green St., Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Faustina Parish, Nanticoke, with the Rev. James Nash officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Calling hours will be held Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mill Memorial Library, 495 E. Main St., Nanticoke.

Ron (Breck) was one of my favorite people ever.We met at Ursinus and spent a lot of time together both in and after class from 1969 through 1973.We hung around on the weekends and lived in the same suite and kept each other company throughout our matriculation.
After reading the entries concerning Breck,it doesn´t surprise me that my sentiments overlap with those individuals who knew him well.He was a good listener and a caring ,empathetic straight shooter.We ate a lot of pizza,played a lot of sports and he graciously shared his pecan sandies with me that he usually brought back to school after break.
The reason it took so long for me to write since his passing is because it was not until last week that I discovered he was no longer here.It is with much love and admiration for my dear friend Ron that this note has been written and hopefully his family and friends will read this and know that others felt the same way about him as they still do.

I often think of Ron, especially at work. The years pass so quickly, but I still have fond memories of good, sometimes spirited conversations while sitting in his office at 2 Public Square. Ron was intelligent, often funny in his unique sarcastic yet quiet way. I send my thoughts and good memories of Ron to his wife and daughters and condolences at the same time. God bless you all!

Dear Leslie and family: I am so very sorry for your loss. I will miss seeing him mow the lawn with his big headphones. I will miss him at DEP telling me when I asked how he was that "it doesn't get any better than this". He is deeply missed by all.

Ronnie was the most caring and wonderful man I have ever known- he gave us all big shoes to fill in his absence.

First and foremost I would like to extend my deepest condolences to Ron's family. There really are no words to express how shocked and saddened I was to receive the news of Ron's passing while I was away from the office. I worked with Ron for 25 years,and he was my immediate supervisor for most of that time. As a co-worker and supervisor Ron was very easy going and yet thorough, fair, professional, knowledgeable and dedicated. Nothing ever seemed to rattle Ron as he went about managing the ECP Program. As a friend I will miss our morning chats about movies we recently saw or wanted to see, sports, the kids and other daily life events. He was a true gentleman, a gentle soul, and a dedicated family man and I will miss him terribly, as will everyone who really knew him. I am happy to see that so many people are celebrating Ron's life with these messages of remembrance and comfort to his family.

I echo the sentiments of others who knew and worked with Ron. He was not only a DEP co-worker, but a friend and confidant as well. Ron came to my son's funeral even though he didn't know my son, but he came to support me. I will never forget Ron and am saddened that he is no longer with us. My deepest sympathy to his family.

If it is the purpose of one's life to leave it a better place, Ron had fulfilled that ideal. As a long time friend and associate, there has been no better. He was always there. We were environmentalists, long distance runners and the father's of doctors, who truely lived for our children.

July 30, 2010

Ron, your friendship with my late husband will be united in heaven. You were a great comfort to me during the time of my husband's passing. Your loving kindness will always be remembered. Leslie, I know your pain and I pray that God comforts you during your suffering of your great loss. I'm sending my condolences here and through the mail, and I will be with you in prayer.

To Ron's Family: I had the honor of working with Ron at a distance from Harrisburg ever since I started working at (then) DER in 1994. He did a difficult job with grace and humor and never shied away from difficult issues. Please know that he impacted many lives here in Pennsylvania in profoundly positive ways and he will be missed. We're keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.

Uncle Ronnie,

You never said "I'm leaving"
You never said goodbye
You were gone before we knew it,
And only God knows why

A million times we needed you,
A million times we cried
If Love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died

In Life we loved you dearly
In death we love you still
In our heart you hold a place,
That no one will ever fill

It broke our heart to lose you,
But you didn't go alone
For part of us went with you,
The day God took you home.

We'll miss u dearly...

To the Brezinski family,

I worked at DEP's Wilkes-Barre office for six years until 2003. I stopped by to visit this past December and ran into Ron while there. He was the same as he had always been when I worked there - friendly, cheerful and upbeat - and we had a very enjoyable conversation comparing notes on environmental protection in Pennsylvania and Vermont. I am very sorry and saddened to hear about his passing, and I send my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Leslie and family,

We were sad to hear about Ron's untimely passing. We would like to share this prayer with you. The Broken Chain.

We little knew that morning, that God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
you did not go alone;
for part of us went with you,
the day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories,
your love is still our guide;
and though we cannot see you,
you are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same;
but as God calls us one by one,
the chain will link again.

I am very sorry to hear about your sudden loss. I have been away from that area for many years but I can tell you that Moe had a big impact on how I turned out. On the ball field, when things got tough, he would be the one motivating and leading. When things were the toughest, he led by example and dug down for a little extra and maybe even ran over me a few times. Well his example and the examples of many others have kept me digging down for many years. Moe was the kind of team mate and man that no one ever forgets. There are no words to express our sorrow but I hope you will accept my heartfelt sympathy. Bill Kinney Class of 69.
