Carol Mizer Obituary

Carol A. Mizer, 75, of Strasburg died Friday, April 9, 2010, in the Hennis Care Centre at Dover following a short battle with renal cancer.
Born Feb. 6, 1935, in Canton, she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Cecilia Aul Divida. Carol was also preceded in death by a brother, David Divida; infant brother, John Divida; and granddaughter, Cassidy Eichel.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Zoar. Carol was the ultimate homemaker who enjoyed cooking big meals for her family. The perfect day for her was when the whole family gathered around her dinner table. The question most of her family had was, what did she love watching more, her beloved Pittsburgh Steelers playing football or her grandchildren playing on her patio? We'll never know as she enjoyed both with a passion.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Carol will be sadly missed by her husband of almost 53 years, Tom M. Mizer, whom she married on April 27, 1957; children, Michael Mizer of Canton, Kathy (Gary) Little of New Philadelphia, Rick Mizer of Strasburg and Julie (Jeff) Gibbs of New Philadelphia; sisters, Janet (Jim) Burris and Judy (Jerry) Slankard, both of Strasburg; grandchildren, Adam and Sara Little and Joey and Gabby Eichel; step grandchildren, Trisha, Mason and Keaton Gibbs.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 12, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Zoar with Deacon Lyn Houze officiating. Interment will be in the St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery at Strasburg. Friends can call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at Dover on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. with Christian Wake services starting at 6:45 p.m.
Those wishing to express their fondest memories of Carol may do so by visiting the on line obituaries link on the funeral homes Web site.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County at 210 W. 3rd St., Dover, O. 44622.
