Martin "Marty" Luppino, Sr. 1940 - 2017
ZEPHYRHILLS, FL/HERKIMER, NY - Martin "Marty" Luppino, Sr., 76, passed away on Saturday, April 8th, 2017, with his family by his side.
Cremation took place in Zephyrhills, Florida, at the Hodges Funeral Home.
He was born on December 7th, 1940, in Herkimer, NY, the son of the late Joseph and Eva (Glogowski) Luppino, and attended Mohawk Schools.
Marty was employed with the Herkimer Fire Department from 1964-1973. After service as a Fireman, Marty entered his passion and proudly served as Herkimer County Undersheriff with the late Richard Folts from 1972-1981. After serving as County Undersheriff, he became employed with General Electric holding the title of General Security Manager for the Northeast Region. Marty was the owner/operator of the Mohawk Valley Auction House and avid NASCAR Fan, and had much love for his Harley Davidson Motorcycles.
Marty is survived by his loving wife, Joan (Phelps) Luppino, formerly of Remsen; a son and daughter-in-law, Martin, Jr., and Jamianne, of Mohawk; a daughter, Christine, of Owego; stepdaughter, Theresa and husband, Tim Loomis, of Hinckley; stepson, Todd Smith, of Deland, FL; and six grandchildren, Anthony and Joseph Luppino, Karen, Jennifer and Patrick Nagle, and Brianna Loomis; and several brothers and sisters, Anthony and Elaine Luppino, Frank and Carol Luppino, John and Jane Luppino, Eva Luppino Healy, Mary Luppino Sherrick, Robert and Joanne Catalina, and Rocco and Deborah Luppino; a sister-in-law, Nancy and her husband, Jim Carey; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, all of whom he cherished and loved very much. He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Kathy Luppino Foley; brothers-in-law, Gary Healy and Fred Sherrick; a sister-in-law, Diane Luppino; and nephew, Anthony "Chip" Luppino.
The family will receive relatives and friends at a Memorial Service at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 20th, 2017, at the St. Anthony/Joseph Church on S. Main St. in the Village of Herkimer.
Memorial considerations may be made to Gulfside Hospice & Pasco Palliative Care, 2061 Collier Parkway, Land O'Lakes, Florida 34639-9978.

We remember Marty from camping next door to him and Joanie at Ta-Ga-Soke. Great great people. He was always a BIG help when it came to helping other campers open up or close down their campsites for the season. Such a smart man. He will be greatly missed by many people. Bob & Darla DeLong
