Jerome Lefkowitz

Lefkowitz, Jerome ALBANY Jerome Lefkowitz of Albany, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 21, 2017, at the age of 86. Jerry, as he was known to all who knew and loved him, was the devoted husband of Myrna (Weishaut). They were happily married for 61 years, and have been active members of the local Jewish community since their arrival in the Capital District in 1965. Jerry was also a devoted father, and often mentor, to his loving children, Jay Lefkowitz (Elena), Mark Lefkowitz (Alyse), Miriam Lefkowitz (Marc Heimowitz) and Alan Lefkowitz (Neomi Rao). He also leaves behind ten adoring grandchildren, Talia, Danielle, Jacob, Sophia, Jonah, Isabella, Jordan, David, Tamar and Ezra. Jerry was an accomplished attorney, advocate and community leader. His quiet passion for law and justice informed his career path. He spent 19 years as counsel at CSEA and served as the chairman of the Public Employment Relations Board of New York State until his retirement in January of 2015. Jerry is also survived by his brother, Leonard (Saradona) of Rockville, Md. Jerry was loved and respected by all those who knew him, friends, colleagues and courtroom adversaries alike. Services in Temple Israel, 600 New Scotland Ave., Albany, on Sunday, December 24, at 12 p.m. Interment will follow in the Floral Park Cemetery in Monmouth Junction, N.J.
