Jerry Lonn Obituary

Lonn, Jerry SCHENECTADY Jerry Lonn, 72, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2017, at his home in Schenectady. Jerry was born on February 24, 1945, in East Liverpool, Ohio, to the late Peter and Anne Lonn. He graduated from W.H. Lynch High School and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1963-1969. Jerry was the proud father of Denise Closterman (Timothy) of Seminole, Fla., and Melody Junk (Joshua) of Frisco, Texas. He was the loving grandfather of Jared Closterman, Lillian Junk and Carissa Junk. Jerry was also the sibling of Roz Weatherholtz and Robert Lonn; and had many nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and nephews. Throughout his life, Jerry was a musician. He played the drums and sang in many different bands. He also worked in the automotive service field. Jerry was a proud veteran who loved his country and was extremely proud of his service. He was a member of the V.A. and participated in various activities there each week. He loved Jazz organ music, action and sci-fi movies, and was a avid Star Trek fan. Jerry was known as a caring and thoughtful man who loved to tell jokes. He would frequently boast about his daughters, who both followed in his musical footsteps. Jerry was a long-time member of Congregation Sons of Israel in Amsterdam and had a strong belief in his faith. Services at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Ave., Albany on Friday, December 1, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the Sons of Israel Cemetery in Cranesville, N.Y.
