Richard D. Bango

MECHANICVILLE Richard D. Bango, 73, of Mechanicville, peacefully entered into eternal life on Thursday, March 2, 2006 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. His loving family was by his side at the time of his passing. Richard was born on July 8, 1932 in Mechanicville where he would remain a lifelong resident. Richard was the son of the late Meno and Geraldine Vitrella Bango. It was on October 23, 1955 that he married the former Mary Rose Micklas. The two shared a blessed union of mutual love and devotion for over 50 years. Richard worked for the Pruyn Lumber Co., Mechanicville Modern Lumber and, most recently, the Mechanicville Public School District, the position from which he retired. He was a communicant of the Assumption/St. Paul Church in Mechanicville. Survivors, in addition to his beloved wife Mary Rose, include his children, to whom he was a devoted father: his daughter, Doreen M. Bango of Latham and his son, Richard A. Bango and his wife Debra of Mechanicville. He was the cherished grandfather (Poppy) to Mia Bango, for whom he could never do enough. He is also survived by his sister, Marie (Bango) Phelan of Mechanicville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be on Monday, March 6, 2006 at 8:15 a.m. from the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham and at 9:00 a.m. at St. Ambrose Church in Latham where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Sunday, March 5 from 2-5 p.m. Entombment will take place in Memory's Garden Cemetery in Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made in Richard's memory to the Stillwater Rescue Squad.
