Hartigan, William Albert NEW YORK CITY William Albert Hartigan entered eternal life on December 16, 2016, at Cornell Presbyterian Hospital, New York City. Born on July 18, 1930, in Albany, he was the eldest child of John A. and Harriet (Barnes) Hartigan. A resident of Manhattan for over fifty years, Bill, as everyone called him, graduated from Christian Brothers Academy in 1948, then Manhattan College and earned his master's degree in ath and economics at Carnegie Tech. Bill was a long time employee employed by I.B.M. as corporate financial analyst. Bill actively volunteered at St. Patrick's Cathedral and many church organizations. His interests included the New York Library, museums, a sport enthusiast, and taking long daily walks. He was known for many academic achievements and for his faith, kind disposition, honesty, and generosity to charities. Bill is survived by his brother, John (Jean) Hartigan and sister-in-law, Kathie (Poli) Hartigan; also by nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sister, Joan (Jerry) Dombrowski, and brother, Francis Hartigan. A special thanks to Patty Gylfe, for her many kindnesses to him. A memorial Mass, followed by the Rite of Interment at Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont, will be held privately at the convenience of the family at a later date. I'm proud to be a member of the Hartigan Family through my mother Ruth. I can remember many, many get-togethers going back to the fifties and enjoying Bill's great sense of humor and, of course, his pipe. I remember Aunt Harriet and Uncle John being so proud of each of their children. God be with you Bill

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any mans death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.

Fondly remembering Uncle Bill who was always present at family gatherings in Albany. He usually had a pipe in his mouth, and a book in his hand, and always enjoyed conversing with all. Love, Kathy
