George Prentiss Obituary

Prentiss, George H. CASTLETON George H. Prentiss, 53, of Castleton, died Thursday, May 31, 2012 at his residence. He is survived by his forever loving wife of 34 years, Debra W. Prentiss; parents, Gina Prentiss and Bard V. Prentiss; sister, Marcie P. Mann, her husband Ken Mann and their daughter Caroline of Jamesville, N.Y; brother, Jared S. Prentiss, his wife Lisa Prentiss and their daughter Ruby V. Prentiss of Falmouth, Maine; sister, Mariah and Michelle Prentiss and child Joshua of Ithaca, N.Y.; father and mother-in-law, Don and Rose Wilkinson; sister-in-law, Sharon Favretto and husband Peter Favretto; sister-in-law, Monica Wilkinson of Ithaca, N.Y., her friend Tom Kelly of Ovid, N.Y. and her children, John O'Dwyer and Tom O'Dwyer both of Brooklyn. George was predeceased by grandparents, George F. and Mabel D. Prins and Samuel and Evelyn Prentiss. George was a graduate of Dryden High School, class of 1976, and attended SUNY Morrisville. He was a well respected NYS licensed guide for 33 years. He was employed as a painting supervisor and belonged to the National Association of Corrosion Engineers. An avid gardener, hiker, fisherman and outdoorsman, he was also an artist/painter. Most of all, he was a wonderful husband who loved spending time at the cabin. Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Contributions may be made to either the Mohawk and Hudson River Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204 or the Castleton Ambulance, 1700 Brookview Road, Castleton, NY 12033 in memory of George H. Prentiss.
