Earl Pohl Obituary

ROTTERDAM Earl R. Pohl, 77, of Rotterdam, died Sunday, March 5, 2006 at St. Clare's Hospital. Earl was born in Schenectady, the son of the late Karl and Helena R. Westrich Pohl. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was discharged in 1952. Earl worked as a pressman for the Boyd Printing Co. in Albany for many years and retired in 1994. He was a longtime member of the Watervliet Fish and Game Club and also served as a range officer at the club. He was a member of the Graphic Communication International Union, Local 23 in Albany. In addition to his parents, Earl was also predeceased by his wife, Antoinette Restina Pohl who died in 2002; two brothers, David Pohl and Robert Pohl and his sister, Jeane Bailor. He is survived by his son, Mark Pohl and his wife Katherine of Charlton and two grandchildren, Stephen Pohl and Kristen Pohl. Calling hours will be held Wednesday evening 6-8 p.m. at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Memorial donations may be made in Earl's memory to the Watervliet Fish and Game Club, Karner Rd., Colonie, NY 12205.

Earl was our friend. Old dogs and old friends, like old shoes, are comfortable. They might be a bit out of shape and a little worn around the edges, but they fit well. I will always remember Earl walking the ranges with his old dog.
