Herbert was a coworker and mentor at the Center for Disability Services. I fondly remember his love of family, music, and spirituality. Herbert was kind and respectful to the clients he worked with and approached life with compassion and understanding. He showed keen insight and wit in all of his interactions. Herbert will be remembered always.

My words will not be able to convey the extent of my meaningful relationship and work with Herbert as his therapy client. I am very thankful for the many gifts he shared with me during our time together - among them, hospitality, healing experiences, help for living well and wisdom for life decisions. His work with me is extended to others as I too work with therapy clients. Herbert was a Wonderful Counselor, a lovely man and clearly loved his family.

I have known Herb, as a colleague, since 1974. He was a kind, humble, and gentle person. Helping others was of primary importance to Herb. His wit made for fun; and conversations with him were usually interesting. The world is a better place because of people like Herb.

I worked under Dr. Sanderson's expert tutelage for several years at the state Office of People with Developmental Disabilities. I had the utmost respect and admiration for him. He was so kind, compassionate, intelligent and insightful. Yet he had a great sense of humor. My sincere condolences go to his family on the loss of a great man.
