Jackie,
May God forever comfort and keep you, Michele and your family in your time of need.

I am truly blessed to have known Momma-Hodges. Indeed she was a rare and one of a kind jewel. I will dearly miss her smile and the sunshine she brought into people lives. It didn't matter if the time of our last visit was two years, two months, two days or even two hours. Her greetings were always the same. First her infectious 'smile' (impossible not smile, you just had to smile back). Next... "how are you, how you been and how's the family?" (all in one breathe no less!) and lastly the Momma-H hug.

Thank you for sharing your mom with me and my family. The trips to Auntie Helen, the great meals, old stories when she was a young girl, and our infamous shopping spree. (I still think we should've gotten a moving van for the stuff that she really wanted to bring home).

Only Momma-H could have made me pull over in south Florida and "pinch" a piece off a lavendar tree to add to her garden.

Only Momma-H could get you and myself to "pinch" a piece off of a 150 year old plant at Calloway Gardens (Georgia) to add to her very own garden.

Well... no more "pinching" will she be doing. She's got a life time now of gardening in God's great garden of rare and beautiful flowers and other plants.

My mom (Josephine Mitchell) probably looked up and saw her coming with gloves ready to work in God's amazing garden. Their first conversations will be about meeting God, their grandchildren, and the wonderful garden God has given to these two precious flowers.

Their conversation won't be about us, for we (their children) are each and every heart beat they take. We are kinda-sorta like an unspoken language that only they know. If I had to translate one of their conversation, Momma-H will say to my momma:

"Josephine, you know that Jackie is a mess...she's a wonderful and beautiful person inside and out... I'm grateful and blessed for her as my daughter...I love her, can't explain how much..."

Josephine replies, Yeah..I know what you mean, you love her THAT much!!!"

Little Sister, thanks for so lovingly taking care of my other mother. Be comforted in the many cherished memories and times you all spent together.

I'm just a whisper away, Love always - Big Sis

Aunt Lee, It's still hard to believe you are gone and you will be missed by many. If it's one thing that I will miss the most is your beautiful smile. I love you but I know God loves you more!!!

To the family

I am so sorry for your lost. I am in prayer for the family. It's hard to lose someone you love. And only time can begin to heal you. It's one day at a time. But God will carry you through. Lean on God and your family and friends.
