Henry J. Pat Martin Sr.

MARTIN Henry J. Pat Martin Sr., 89, of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2014. Born in Hamden, Connecticut, and educated at Yale, he lived most of his adult life on Long Island where he and his wife Jeanne raised a family of five. He worked in Manhattan for over 30 years as an actuary with the New York Life Insurance Company. He retired to Athens, Georgia, in the early 90s and spent the last three years living in TPC Sawgrass. Pat was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Jeanne, who passed away in 2004. He leaves a brother, Gene, of Reading, Massachusetts; four sons and a daughter: Henry, Peter, Philip, Raymond, and Nancy Blumenfeld of Ponte Vedra; 18 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. Some of Pat s fondest memories were serving our country during World War II in the Pacific as an Airman 3rd Class in the US Navy. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, April 13th in Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home of Jacksonville Beach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 14th in Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church of Ponte Vedra Beach. Burial will be held in Athens, Georgia, on Wednesday at Athens Memory Gardens on Lexington Road.
