John O'Connor

O CONNOR John R. O Connor, 92, passed away July 27, 2012. He was born August 31, 1919 in Yonkers, NY. Jack graduated from Manhattan Prep School and Manhattan College in NYC. He spent four years in the Navy during WWII as a skipper of PT Boat 104. He resided in Ridgewood, NJ for 32 years then Bloomfield Hills, MI for 7 years where he was employed as a VP of Sales with CBS Television Network. While in NJ, he was an active board member of Hackensack Golf Club in Oradell, NJ. He retired to the beaches where he could enjoy golf and warm weather. Jack was a man of many interests, golf being his greatest passion. He played golf three times a week at the Ponte Vedra Club. He was a talented acrylic painter and enjoyed reading, travel and friends. He was a devout catholic having served on many church committees and boards throughout his life. Jack is survived by his sons: Robert J. O Connor (Laura) and William T. O Connor (Tina); daughter, Carol A. O Connor; 7 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Anne, in 2007. Visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00p.m., Monday, July 30, 2012 in the chapel of Quinn Shalz Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am, Tuesday, July 31, 2012 in Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church with Rev. Frank Iacona as Celebrant.
