Ethel Butler Obituary

Entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of July 28, 2001. Ethel Jeannine Jean Moody Butler, wife of Walter B. Butler Sr. and a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Florida. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Walter B. Butler Sr. are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by Revered Father John H. Dux, Wednesday, August 1, 2001 at Assumption Catholic Church at 11:00 AM with the prayers of Final Commendation and Farewell at Oaklawn Cemetery. A Vigil service will be held at 7:30 PM Tuesday, July 31, 2001 at Assumption Catholic Church. The Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 31, 2001 from 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM at Assumption Catholic Church. Mrs. Butler was born April 9, 1930 in Jacksonville, Florida. A daughter of the late Maxey Dell Moody, Sr. and Ethel Muller Moody, she was a graduate of Landon High School where she was a member of the Lionettes. She was also a graduate of Ringling Art School where she had the honor of a 'One Man Show' . Mrs. Butler had been a silent fund raiser for various organizations throughout her life and was an animal philanthropist. She was a devoted wife of forty six years and a loving mother. She was predeceased by her brothers, Maxey Dell Moddy, Jr. and Muller Pearson Moody and a sister Dolores Moody Dux. Surviving Mrs. Butler are her husband of Jacksonville, FL, one son, Walter B. Butler Jr. and his wife Rebecca Hill Butler both of Jacksonville, FL; three daughters, Beverly Butler Piccione and her husband Ronald Piccione, Sr., both of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; Barbara Butler Buck and her husband Richard Buck, both of Jacksonville, FL; Blair Butler May and her husband Dr. Gerald May, both of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; her grandchildren, Macy B. May, Emery Ebb Butler Buck, Jess L. Butler, Max G. May, Nicole T. Piccione, Elliot A. Buck, Ronald V. Piccione, Jr., Tristen J. Butler and J. Dakota Butler; twenty nieces and nephews. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Safe Animal Shelter, PO Box 1386, Orange Park, FL 32067 or the American Diabetes Association, 8384 Baymeadows Rd, Suite 10, Jacksonville, FL 32256. Pallbearers are M.D. Moody III, R.M. Moody, Sr., R.M. Moody, Jr., Judge Donald Moran, V. Roger duPont, Jr., Roger Gibson, J. Byard Mowell, and William McMenamy. Arrangements by: Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, FL.
