Jean Caffee Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 12, 2011.
CAFFEE Jean Ann Caffee went home to the Lord on November 8, 2011 after an exhausting battle with cancer. Jean Ann was born in Marlin, Texas on September 1, 1954. Shortly there after, her parents, along with her two older sisters, moved to and stayed in Killeen, Texas. She spent her childhood in Killeen and attended Killeen High School where she graduated in 1972. While a student at Killeen High School, she was a member of the band as a twirler. She was married twice, having 2 sons from her first marriage. In 1978 she met Stephen Caffee and 2 years later on June 13, 1980 they were married. Stephen, having 2 sons from his first marriage, relocated with Jean Ann to the San Francisco Bay area with their blended family. In 1981 they celebrated the birth of the 5th son. She went to work for Lockheed Missiles and Space in 1981 where she continued to work until her early retirement in 2001. While living in California, she welcomed the birth of her 1st grandson in 2000. After 9/11, she and her husband decided to move to Florida. Relocating to Orange Park, she purchased Dick's Wings and Grill on Wells Road in Orange Park. She was a hands-on owner and was famous for sitting down with the customers, listening to their life stories as well as sharing her own. She continued to actively own and work in the restaurant until her illness forced her to quit. In 2005, she became Nana to her 2nd grandson. In 2007, she became Nana again to her 3rd grandson. Her grandsons were an important part of her life and she devoted herself to the love, care and support of them. She balanced caring for them 40 hours a week while continuing to work fulltime at Dick's Wings. She is preceded to heaven by a niece, parents, parents-in-law and a brother-in-law. She leaves behind her husband, 5 sons, 3 grandsons, 2 daughters-in-law, 2 sisters, 1 sister-in-law, 3 brothers-in-law, along with numerous nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and nieces. Along with those mentioned she leaves hundreds of friends whose lives she participated in and enriched. Services include a visitation reception on Sunday, November 13th from 5-7pm at Russell Haven of Rest Funeral Home, 2335 Sandridge Road, Green Cove Springs. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel on Monday, November 14th at 11am. Interment to follow in Russell Haven of Rest Cemetery. www.RHRCemeteryandFuneralHoe.com Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com

We were so sorry to hear of your loss. Jean Ann was one of the most caring and understanding people I ever knew. I will cherish the time I had with her and wish I could be there with her family. If her family needs anything please don't hesitate to call.

Jean Ann is our neighbor her grandkids would always come over and ask what we were doing. Jean Ann would always say let me know if they are bothering you. I would always tell her they are fine let them be kids. Jean Ann was a special person we would see her with the children and she always said they were her life. She shared moments with us we cried and would share a hug. You will be missed Jean Ann may your soul rest in peace. Love the Kopp family

We always enjoyed seeing Jean Ann and chatting with her on our weekly visits to the restaurant. She always had a cute story about her adorable grandsons to share. We will miss her. Our love, thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends.

Our family went to Dick's Wings today after church and were deeply saddened by the news of Jean's passing. We consider ourselves "regulars" at the restaurant and knew we hadn't seen her in some time, but didn't realize why. She always made us feel so welcome when we came in. I'm sure she will be greatly missed. We will keep her family in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
