David Mitchell Smiley

SMILEY David Mitchell Smiley, 47, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, December 5, 2010. He was born June 29, 1963. David was a native and life long resident of Jacksonville and attended Victory Christian Academy, Andrew Jackson High School and received his High School graduation diploma from Florida Junior College at Jacksonville. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of North Jacksonville Baptist Church. David was a Master in Welding. His favorite times were being with his family, especially his beloved son, Jonathan, who brought him much pride and joy. He loved to go fishing. David is preceded in death by his Grandfathers, Frank S. Barfield and Harold D. Smiley, Sr.; Grandmother, Irma Smiley; Uncles, John Barfield, Sr. and Rickie Barfield; cousin, John Barfield, Jr. He is survived by his son, Jonathan Taylor Smiley; Father, John D. Smiley; wife, Kitty; Mother, Bettye Blankenship and husband Ray; Grandmother, Effie Barfield; Uncle, Harold Smiley, Jr.; Aunts, Sandra Smiley & Linda Barfield; cousins, Doug, Kenny and Holly Smiley, Tresa Lang, Lisa Barfield, Michelle Sanders, and many other loving family members. A celebration of David's life will be held at Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218 on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Billy T. Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Arlington Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 10, 2010 from 6 - 8 PM at the Funeral Home. (904)714-1110.
