Marty Coffey Obituary

COFFEY Marty Deane Coffey, 50, of Callahan, passed away June 27. He was born September 25, 1965 in Orlando, Florida. He proudly served his country in the US Army. He had been in the trucking business most of his life and was currently employed with Old Dominion Truck Lines in Jacksonville. Marty was the kind of person that would help anybody, anytime, whether they were family or not. He never met a stranger. Everyone loved him. He had a stern way about him but had a gentle heart. He loved the Florida Gators and watching NASCAR. He also enjoyed racing dirt bikes when he was younger. Above all, he loved his family and really enjoyed his grandchildren! He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Sandy; two sons Brandon Coffey of Callahan and Andy Perry of St. Petersburg; one daughter Ashley (Austin) Hittinger of Yulee; four grandchildren Kate-Lynn, Kaleab, Roslynn and Cole; his parents Richard and Dale Coffey of Callahan; His brothers Mitchell Coffey and Mark (Lisa) Coffey; a sister Michelle Coffey; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 30 from 6-8 p.m. at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Avenue, Jacksonville. A viewing will also be held one hour prior (10 a.m.) to the funeral service Friday, July 1 at 11 a.m. at Celebration Church, 9555 R.G. Skinner Parkway, Jacksonville. I knew Marty by him coming by at The Hillman Group. He usually had Penera Bread bagels or Dunkin' donuts. He was so funny and very friendly. He made you feel instantly like he'd known you forever. We talked trash during football season, him a Gator, me a Seminole. I pray for God to help his family heal and have comfort during this difficult time. We will all see him again one day. Rest in Peace, Marty, you will be missed.

Sandy our prayers are with you and your family during this time. Marty I met you through your kindness going to the races in Daytona. We spent nearly 25 years together on Thursday during speed weeks. It's never going to be the same not enjoying your friendship, laughter and just plain fun times we shared. Good people like you are a blessing to this world of craziness. May God wrap his arms around you and your family and bring them comfort. You will be truly missed by everyone who knew you.

Sandy and family. I am so deeply sorry for the loss of your beloved Marty. I had the great blessing of working with him for many years at SEFL. A few years back he gave me and my husband tickets to Bristol. That was our first time going and we had the best time thanks to Marty. He was a wonderful person in every way. Praying for you during this difficult time and that you will feel the Lord's arms wrapped around you. We can rejoice that this earth is not our home and you will be reunited with Marty one day. What a day that will be!! May God's peace and love surround you during these difficult days ahead. Love in Christ, Rebecca

As stated above he was kind and treated me as a friend even thought I live in Columbus Georgia we texted back and forth on Father's Day.He will certainly be missed .!.!.!!
