Richard Cox Obituary

Richard D. Cox
Richard D. Cox, 67, of Lehighton, passed into eternal rest on Sunday, June 21, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Sandra Lee (Ritter) Cox. They were married for 25 years on Sept. 16, 2014.
He retired from LECO, Inc., where he was an electronics engineer, and, most recently, was a cashier at Walmart, Lehighton.
Born in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Robert and Eleanor (Haberline) Cox.
He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, having served from 1968-78. He attained the rank of ET 1st class while serving on the USS Proteus.
Cox attended services at St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Weissport, and was a member of the Carbon County Railroading Club.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a daughter, Megan Victoria of Lehighton; a brother Robert, and his companion, Dee Celani, of Norristown; two sisters-in-law, Kay Ritter of Lehighton and Joan Ritter in New Jersey; numerous nieces and nephews, and his dear dog "Lucy."
Service: Funeral service 11 a.m. Thursday, June 25, Ovsak Funeral Home, 190 S. Fourth St., Lehighton, with the Rev. Phyllis J. Wolford officiating. Interment with full military honors, Franklin Heights Memorial Park, E. Weissport, under direction of Lehighton Area UVO. Call 10-11 a.m. Thursday. Contributions in his name may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc., 65 E. Elizabeth Ave., Suite 502, Bethlehem, Pa. 18018. Online condolences can be offered at www.ovsakfh.com.
