Charles H. Nunemacher, 85, of West Phillips Street, Coaldale, died Friday, Dec. 8 in Lehighton. He was the widower of Betty (Scheitrum) Nunemacher, who died July 29, 2006.
He worked
for Trojan Powder Co. for 12 years, Bethlehem Steel for 15 years and retired from Lehigh Asphalt after 20 years.
Born in Tamaqua on Jan. 31, 1932, he was a son of the late George and Gertrude (Lauchnor) Nunemacher. Charles served his country in the United States Air Force military police from 1951-1955, having been stationed in Seoul, South Korea, where he earned a Bronze Star.
Protestant by faith, he enjoyed sports, bingo and traveling.
He was a life member of Nesquehoning VFW Post 8008 and a member of the Lehighton American Legion Post 314 for 32 years. He was a former member of the Lansford Amvets from 1971-2014.
Survivors include sisters, Betty Bablo of Tamaqua; Dorothy Poorman in California, Lois Reed in Alabama, Marian Fritz of Pittsburgh and Joyce Nunemacher of Andreas; brothers, Kenneth and George Jr., both of Tamaqua and Edward of Lansford; numerous nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by: brothers, Russell, Raymond, Paul and Robert; and by a sister, Beatrice Boracius.
Services: Military graveside service, 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 16,
