Annette Marie McKean

Annette Marie (Mocek) McKean, 78, of Lambertville, MI, passed away peacefully at home on April 7, 2018 with her family by her side. Annette was born July 8, 1939 in Toledo to Joseph and Mary (Drewicz) Mocek.

Annette married her true love and soulmate, Charles "Chuck" McKean, on Aug. 20, 1960. Together they shared nearly 50 years of love and devotion and raised two daughters.

Annette graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1958. Following high school, she worked at Tiedke's department store before becoming a full-time mother. The consummate homemaker, Annette's passion was caring for her family and creating a beautiful and gracious home. She also had a true "green thumb" and loved planning and caring for her flower gardens. Her stunning roses, clematis and hydrangeas were her pride and joy.

An avid reader and creative thinker, Annette passed her love of learning on to her daughters, encouraging them to read, write and use their imaginations throughout their lives. She and her husband also instilled in their daughters a great appreciation for travel, planning annual family vacations to experience sites and scenery around the country. Her last great adventure was a trip abroad to England and Scotland.

A devout Catholic, Annette found great comfort in her religion and had special and abiding devotions to the Virgin Mary, St. Michael the Archangel and St. Therese of Lisieux. Even amidst some of her life's greatest trials and tragedies, Annette's faith was resolute and helped her find hope, joy and grace on every step of her journey.

Last, but certainly not least, Annette loved to laugh and have fun. Her playful personality, charming smile and warm sense of humor made her instant friends everywhere she went.

Annette was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Diana, and special niece and goddaughter Terri Poulos. She is survived by her daughter Christine McKean; sister Charlotte Prosser; brother David (Barbara) Mocek; sister Joyce Rhodes; sister-in-law Paula Poulos; special nephew and godson Dale (Kaylee) Mocek; and many other family and friends. She will also be dearly missed by her canine companion Maizie.

The Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, April 11 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Temperance, MI at 11 a.m. preceded by visitation at the church from 10-11 a.m. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Annette's family would like to thank caregivers Lisa Hall and Denise Yarnell for their loving care and companionship over the last several years. Thanks also to the staff of ProMedica Hospice for their support during the final weeks of Annette's life. The family suggests expressions of sympathy be made to ProMedica Hospice or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
