Dear Jakubowski family,
While I never met Gary in person, he was a friend for over 16 years. I will miss him greatly.

Dear Jakubowski family:
I worked with Gary years ago at CME. He was a great person and we have kept in touch over the years through his various sports pools. We were so sad to hear of his passing. Sports season will not be the same without him. RIP Gary.

Mrs. Jakubowski, I was very sorry to hear about Gary. I went to school with him at St. John's and he and I worked on the school paper. Like so many others who have commented here, I remember Gary as smart, and passionate about sports. He was also very dedicated to his work on the paper. But what I remember most was his sense of humor -- he loved to laugh at the absurdities of the world. I hope the many memories that people are sharing here will bring you some comfort at this difficult time.

I have been an online friend of Gary's for over a dozen years. While we never met, we became very close. Every Christmas and birthday I knew my friend 'The Poolman' would deliver and his gifts were always so very thoughtful. I recently mailed him something, and when I did not get a response back I knew something was wrong. My heart breaks for you Mrs. Jakubowski as you have now lost two sons as well as your husband. Please know others are thinking of you at this no doubt incredibly difficult time.

How sad upon learning this news. Gary was a classmate of mine every year from first grade through high school. I remember him being one of the shortest kids in class, but also the smartest! I knew he would be successful from a early age. So sorry for your loss.

Adelle - I really enjoyed meeting you, although I wish it was under different circumstances. I hope you are able to rest up now and reflect on your wonderful memories with Gary. I am happy I got to know him and I will miss all his wonderful support on my project at Ford. Be sure to check out Gary's Facebook to see the nice messages his friends have posted on there as well.
Please know that my thoughts and prayers will continue to be with you and the rest of your family. Take care.

Mrs Jakubowski and Family. I am sorry for your loss. I went to Little Flower Elementary & St Johns with Gary. In fact I just received the notice today. It struct me with instant memories of his competitiveness on the cyo basketball. I believe his brother Dale coached us. He was always on top of academics as I recall ,but treated you with kindness. Even though High School was the last time I seen Gary, he has definitely left an impression on me. Especially after reading the entries from others. He was Very Special Indeed and will be missed.

Mrs. Jakubowski,
I just received the note from S.J. on Gary's passing and wanted to extend my condolences and prayers to you and your family. Having had many classes with Gary over the years at SJ - he always a positive and friendly spirit in the St. Johns community. As documented his passion for sports was amazing. All who had the chance at any point in life to know him can take away many positives from his ability to relate so well to all. God Bless and peace to your family.

Mrs. Jakubowski & Family,
I met Gary many years ago through some mutual friends. Although our paths didn't cross all that often, when they did it was nothing but laughs and lots of them. He was a great man and will be truely missed! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Mrs. Jakubowski and Family
I ate lunch with Gary almost every day at St. Johns, was in most of his classes, and was over to your house many times after we both graduated from high school. As you know, one of Gary's passions was sports statistics...I remember him lecturing me time and again that any team can be improved by paying attention to every athlete's current and past stats. I took his advice when I was coaching high school track here in Dayton for several years...both to the improvement of the team and the individual athletes. I'd like to think that Gary positively touched the lives of many young athletes here in the Dayton area thru his advice to me.
My deepest condolences and prayers go out to you tonight, and know that he will always be in my thoughts.

Mrs, Jakubowski and Family,
My condolences to you at Gary's sudden passing. Gary was a classmate of mine at St. John's. He sat behind me in several classes and never failed to bring his positive and pleasant demeanor. I remember Gary as a flat out good guy to hang out with, and
I always looked forward to his take on sports whether it be St. John's, college, or the pros. I will keep you and him in my thoughts and prayers.

Mrs. Jakubowski and Family, my deepest sympathy for your loss. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. I knew Gary for all the years he worked at Maritz, and worked very closely with him for six of those years. We have so many fun memories with Gary on topics like March Madness, multiple TVs in one room, and team-building at a corn maize. He was loved by his Maritz family and will be greatly missed by all of us.

Mrs. Jakubowski,I can remember when Gary first came into Maritz to interview for a job. He was very pleasant and had a kind smile. Over the years I have worked with Gary on a few Ford studies. He always took the time to make sure I was doing everything correctly. Please know that he is with our Lord and will be in His care always.

To the Jakubowski Family:
"Jake the Snake" was the nickname I recall our senior Calculus teacher Mr. Ron Miller affectionately assigning to Gary. One of a select top-tier group of Honor Students, but very much a "just one of the guys" attitude.
He was the sports editor/writer on the newspaper. I didn't realize until thinking about it just now that he served that role much differently (and better) than most kids that age. He didn't just report the scores and provide cheerleading. He conducted real interviews and wrote as a journalist. I'm sure his editor/instructor would agree.
God bless Gary and your whole family.

Mrs. Jakubowski, I am fairly new at Maritz, but I would see Gary everyday in the copy machine room and he was always very pleasant. And, of course, I saw him the morning he passed. Reading his obituary I can plainly see he was a very special part of your family and he was loved dearly. That is a beautiful thing! I will keep you in my prayers especially in the next few days in hopes that your pain may be eased. This is a very difficult time for you, but understanding that Gary was a person of faith may the thought of him sitting with our Lord and Savior this very minute bring you peace and consolation. Sincerely, Maya

My condolences go out to Gary's family and friends. It was such a pleasure to have worked with him. His seemingly limitless contributions to every project made him a valued and well-respected member of our team. His generous and caring nature is what made him special. He will truly be missed.

Mrs. Jakubowski,
May God comfort you in your time of sorrow. I went to St. John's with Gary and he was a great person. An avid sports lover he was the sports editor for the school newspaper and did a great job. May God bless Gary.
