James M. "Jim"
James Michael Laffartha, age 64, of Findlay, passed away August 17, 2015, at his home. Jim was born August 11, 1951, in Toledo to James Laffartha and Ruth (Mercer) Dear.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his sister, Karen "Melody" Warner. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Laffartha; son, Jim M. (Mandy) Laffartha Jr.; daughter, Hope E. (Eric) Burt, daughter, Kerri L. (Brian) Stanley; son, Josh A. (Kelly) Laffartha; brother, Paul (Polly) Laffartha; sisters, Mary Ellen (William) Sauerwein, and Sharon (Mike) Reisinger; 10 grandchildren and one soon-to-be great-grandchild.
James Michael Laffartha, will not be interred. Instead, I and some family members plan to steal a 14 foot wooden boat to fulfill James Michael's wish for a Viking funeral. The plan is to fill the boat with kindling, straw, and a little kerosene. We'll place Jimmy's body in the boat, and then launch the boat into Lake Erie. Next we will need a bow and arrows, which we might have to steal as well, and we will all take turns shooting fire arrows at the boat until we are able to light the kindling. This of course will be done in the dark of night, as the fire consumes the materials, and when little or nothing is left, it will just sink into the lake. I suspect there are laws that prohibit any of this from happening, but sometimes you just have to go against the grain.
The family will receive guests Saturday, August 22, 2015, from 12 p.m. - 6 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home - NW Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300).

So sorry to hear of Jims passing I loved in Florida for thirty four years and just found his obituary, I remember when we lived on Bartley as made a tape of a story Jim and I did we always had a good time together Jim was a very special guy

I'm so sorry for your loss, if this obituary is any reflection of James and his family you all are some pretty awesome people! Good luck with the Viking funeral! Know that although he is no longer here he was still able to make others smile.
