Aline Shaneck Obituary

SHANECK
Aline M.
Aline M. Shaneck, 92, of Curtice, died Tuesday evening, February 2, 2016, at the Genoa Retirement Village. She was born July 6, 1923, in Otisco, Indiana, the daughter of Lindsay B. and Cleo M. (Smith) Shields). On January 4, 1946, in Toledo, Ohio, Aline married Maynard J. Shaneck and he preceded her in death April 15, 1992. After graduating from high school, Aline began her working career at the former Tiedtke's in Toledo and then during the war years, worked in the office at Standard Oil. She chose to raise her family and have a career, working outside the home before it was “accepted.” She retired after 25 years working as office manager at the former Stokely-Van Camp, Inc. in Curtice. Aline was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Williston and the Genoa Senior Citizens. She loved to crochet afghans and go shopping and was a New York Yankees fan, but her pride and joy were her grandchildren.
Surviving Aline are daughters, Kathryn L. (Dan) Walters of Westerville and Judy A. (Gary) Tabbert of Martin; sons, Randy M. (Christine) Shaneck of Northwood and Jeffrey J. (Lori) Shaneck of Catawba Island; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Beverly Auler of Curtice and Darlene Schnabel of Walbridge, and brothers, Richard (Doris) Shields and Walter (Virginia) Shields, both of Curtice. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Kenneth L. Shaneck and Russell S. Shaneck; sister, Irene Farkas and brothers, Clifford Shields and Lindsay Shields Jr.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Sunday, February 7, 2016, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 8, 2016, at St. John Lutheran Church, 21140 W. Toledo St., Williston, with burial to follow in Allen Township Cemetery. The family suggests memorials for Aline to be directed to St. John Lutheran Church, P.O. Box. 235, Williston, OH 43468; Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Rd., Perrysburg, OH 43551; or the Genoa Retirement Village, 300 Cherry St., Genoa, OH 43430. Online condolences may be shared at

The family would like to thank Aline's special friend, Edna Sandrock and sister-in-law, Faye Olesczuk and also Dr. Odeh and the staff at Genoa Retirement Village.
She never failed to do her best,
Her heart was true and tender;
She toiled hard for those she loved,
And left them to remember.
A loving mother, kind and true,
Her equals on this earth are few:
A happy life, a peaceful end,
She died as she lived,
everybody's friend.
If we had this world to give, We would give it and more; To see our darling Mother,
Come smiling through the door. Those who have a mother, Should tend her with care;
For you never know her value
Till you see her vacant chair.

I'm so very sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. She was a wonderful person. She saw my Mom often in her last years, I know it was a comfort to her to have her sisters and your Mom with her whenever they could be. I just heard this, I'm sorry I didn't know at the time. Thinking of all your family and keeping you in my prayers.
Love you all!
