Burton Martensen Obituary
Burton Martensen, age 67, of Toledo, died Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at home. He was born July 30, 1949 in Toledo to Mr. and Mrs. Edward C. (Alma M. Kramp) Martensen. He was a 1967 graduate of Start High School and attended the University of Toledo. He was employed with the City of Toledo as an accountant for more than 40 years in the finance and accounting department. He enjoyed watching sports on TV and was an avid Detroit Tiger fan. Burt loved animals and happily took acre of the neighborhood cats. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Mary Vera Martensen, who passed at birth. Burt is survived by his sister, Karen (Gene Fodor) Martensen.
Friends will be received at Blanchard-Strabler Funeral Home (1163 W. Sylvania at Lockwood, 419-269-1111) on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, followed by burial at Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania. Memorial contributions may be given to Paws and Whiskers or to Maumee Valley Save a Pet.

My deepest sympathy goes out to your family. I worked with Burt and very much enjoyed our brief conversations about family, animals and just the good ole days! We did not know each other very well but we always caught up on what's new like old friends. I pray that God has received his angel; and that he gives you comfort in every moment of sorrow.

Dear Karen and Family, I am very sorry for the loss of you dear brother. I worked with Burt at the city from 1986 to 1990 and he was a wonderful co-worker. In 2011, my mother passed away and Burt came to the funeral home. That meant the world to me as I had not seen him for so many years. He loved his family and spoke so often of all of you. You will be in my prayers. God Bless you and may Burt now be with with god.
