Irene Elaine Walsh Gold TRENTON Irene Elaine Walsh Gold, known as Elaine, 77, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2016, after a long illness.She was born on Feb. 14, 1939, Valentine's Day. Mrs. Gold graduated from Cathedral School in Trenton and subsequently received an RN degree from Bellevue Hospital School of Nursing. She was active as an RN for a few years in New York City and Trenton before going into administrative health care. She met her husband while working at Medicaid. After several years absence, she returned to school to finish her BA in political science at the College of New Jersey. She completed her working career as risk manager at Trenton Psychiatric Hospital. Mrs. Gold was a life member of Hadassah and was active until her health declined. She enjoyed summer boat trips to the Chesapeake and periodic trips to Mexico until her health intervened. Her favorite hobby was gardening and she did quite a bit of work around the house. She was devoted to her cats and dogs. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Chaim (Hy) Gold; a niece, Jennifer G. Bennett; a nephew. Paul B. Gold; cousins, Ivy Tobin (Pat), Marianne Stevenson, Kathleen Temple, Leslie and Linda Martin, Joseph and Gaye Martin, Pat Gilleo, Danielle Tobin, and a number of other cousins, until her failing health reduced her ability to visit with them. They lived in the same house for 40 years and had many friends in the neighborhood. Funeral services are Friday at 11 a.m. at Orland's Ewing Memorial Chapel, 1534 Pennington Road, Ewing Township. Burial will follow at Ewing Cemetery. Following the service the family will return to their residence. In lieu of flowers,memorial contributions are requested to the Vice President's cancer moonshot or a charity of the donor's choice.
