I was a student at TRHSS. I met Mr. D, as I called him, at my lunch time when he was in charge of hallway patrol. He was kind and we've had many fun conversations. He was still my teacher as far as I'm concerned even though I never stepped foot in his actual classroom. He will be missed and I'm fortunate to have these fond memories. Extending my condolences to his family.

Dear Family Members, I am sorry to hear of the passing of Al, truly the patriarch of a fabulous family. When I was Director of Music & Choirs at St. Justin's Catholic Church and was forming that music program, Al came forward and joined the Senior Choir and shared his talent with us at the Sung Choir Mass. His baritone voice was crucial to the complex harmony of the Mass settings that we performed back then. Al was an inspiration to the other members and to me, especially when my Junior Choir began to be filled with "DEANGELOS"! I do still play those choir tapes and think of Al and all of you. May God Bless

I have very fond memories of Mr. DeAngelo. He was my bio teacher at TRHS in 1979 and 1981 (for AP Bio). I was very sad to hear of his passing. My sympathies to the family. My favorite memory was when I had Mr. D as a teacher the second time, and since he remembered me, he asked me to sit up front and be his secretary. I felt honored. God Bless the DeAngelo family. The first time I met Al he was standing in front of a room full of people and talking about Jesus. I looked around to see if anyone would scoff. No one did. I was captivated by this big, down-to-earth “Everyman” who challenged and encouraged his listeners with his love for God and His people. Al left this world a better place for his having been in it. His wonderful family knows this well. May the Lord bless and comfort them in this time of sorrow until we all meet again.

Mr. DeAngelo was a great teacher-he was truly inspiring and always challenging. I will forever remember him saying countless times, "only the strong survive," and seeing the pride in his eyes when a student of his did well. Thank you for everything, Mr. DeAngelo! Maureen Maloney, class of 1985.

Mr DeAngelo was an amazing person. I was a student at HSSouth. I only wish i had the chance for him to be my teacher. Instead I knew him as a person who monitored the halls during my lunch time. while waiting for the bell to ring to get back to class we'd often talk. Bless your family.

Al was a wonderful teacher and an all around great guy. I had him for freshman Biology and Advanced Biology at South. We became friends the day I brought him in a pheasant I had shot as a Christmas present to him. I remember him coming to my house with his family for our annual Christmas Eve party. He will be missed.

Mr. "D" was an incredible teacher. He taught me how to take notes (and if it wasn't in your composition book, you weren't listening). He engaged us all with his spirit and love for science. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. (TRHSS Class of 85).

I had Mr. DeAngelo for Biology back 30 years ago. He was a wonderful teacher who didn't tolerate anything but your best and I'm a better person for having learned under him.
I know he loved the Lord, so we will see him again.
