Barbara Gordon

Barbara (Mangiafico) Gordon, 63, Wiscasset, Maine, went to heaven to join her parents Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014. She passed peacefully at home, surrounded by family after enduring a long illness. She was born Dec. 24, 1950, in Apollo, daughter of Sam and Beatrice Mangiaficio. She graduated from Apollo Area Joint High School in 1968 and then Shadyside Hospital School of Nursing in 1971. She further enhanced her post-secondary education at the University of Maine in Farmington, and also the University of New England finishing in 1990. Additionally, she volunteered for the American Cancer Society for many years. Barbara married the love of her life, Dennis H. Gordon, on Jan. 27, 1973. She then moved to Maine to start a family and her career in nursing, working at various hospitals throughout her career. She was a devoted Catholic and was happiest when surrounded by her family and friends. She had a passion for sewing and counter cross stitching as well as reading. She is survived by her beloved husband of 41 years, Dennis H. Gordon; two sons, Michael and his wife, Rita, and Matthew and his wife, Mary, all from Wiscasset, Maine; two sisters, Carol Watterson and her husband, Wayne, from Florida, and Sue Walters and her husband, Brad, from Pennsylvania; also several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the team from Miles Home Health and Hospice for their outstanding and professional care during Barb's final months.
