John B. Bryce Jr.

John B. Bryce Jr. Mt. Lebanon John B. "Jack" Bryce Jr., 87, of Mt. Lebanon, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012. He was the beloved husband for 60 years of Marguerite (Maher) Bryce; devoted father of Anita Bryce (Cary Gold), Lauren A. Bryce, Rita Bryce (Subba Shankar) and Jerry (Tracey) Bryce; loving grandfather of Kalie and Brycie Gold, Preeya Shankar and Carson and Gracie Bryce; and brother of the Rev. Edward M. Bryce, Joan (Vince) Stransky and the late Paul Bryce. Jack was a proud Navy veteran serving on the U.S.S. Intrepid during World War II. He was a 1949 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and served as a civil engineer with the U.S. Steel American Bridge Division for more than 50 years. Jack was still an active member the American Society of the Civil Engineers and maintained his license to this day. The family has requested there be no visitation. Family and friends will gather for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Bede Church, 509 S. Dallas Ave., Point Breeze. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to One Acre Fund, 1742 Tatum St., Falcon Heights, MN 55113, where Jack's granddaughter, Kalie, has worked for the past three years in Africa.
