John D. Cummings

1933 - 2016

John "Jack" DeVille Cummings, 82, of Mars, passed away quietly at home on Wednesday, April 20, 2016. The son of the late James and Florence (Graff) Cummings, he was born in 1933, in Pittsburgh. Jack was a life-long resident of the North Hills and served in the Army and retired from the United States Postal Service. He was a member of St. Alphonsus parish in Wexford, as well as being a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of Olives Council. Jack was an avid genealogist, amateur archaeologist and musician. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Mary; and his children, Ann Kinzler and her partner, Robert Barbarini, Chief Master Sgt. John Cummings and his wife, Tracy; grandchildren, Evan Kinzler, Cooper and Eva Grace Cummings. Surviving brothers include Bob (Fran), Joe (Nancy) Terry (Marianne); brother-in-law, John (Jan); and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, and his brothers, Bill and Jim.
Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the GEORGE A. THOMA FUNERAL HOME INC., 10418 Perry Highway, Wexford, PA 15090. Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. Saturday in St. Alphonsus Church, Wexford.
