My deepest sympathies on Marita's passing. I worked with her on the board at Western Pennsylvania Montessori School and always admired her can-do attitude. She felt she could get anything accomplished and took the initiative to do on behalf of the school. We were so lucky to have her passion working for WPMS. She shared stories of her beloved boys with us. Please know that she was so proud of them and loved them deeply. Cherish the happy memories of her and allow them to comfort you.

Dear Madsen Family,
We were so very sorry to hear the sad news of Marita's passing. We had the great pleasure of getting to know Marita as we searched for a new home. Marita was kind and patient with us and always made us feel like we were her most important clients. We know she likely had the same personal impact on all her clients. She would carry our infant daughter and sweetly sing to her in German while we walked through homes. Please know that we are keeping your family close in mind and prayer at this sad time and know that we will miss her and keep these fond memories of her always.
With sympathy,

Per, Christian, Niels and Marita's extended Family,
I pray that you find peace in our Lord at this very sad time - trusting that Marita is with God and praying for us all.
I thank God for blessing me with Marita as a very dear friend and that we were able to continue our friendship even after I moved to Seattle.
Marita's humility, empathy, compassion - and her devotion to God, her family, and the Blessed Mother, Mary, guided her in all that she did. She made me a better person and I will try to "pay forward" the kindness and love she showed to me and all those that she met.
God Bless You All, Deborah Pavlic

I have such fond memories of time spent with Marita growing up whether at her home or my grandparents' house. I vividly remember her wonderful accent, funny stories and love of conversation. She simply enjoyed spending time with people, and touched all who knew her. I always thought of the Madsens as part of my extended family. I have confidence she is with some of those family members now. My deepest sympathies to Per, Chris and Neals.

Mrs. Madsen didn't just sell homes, she sold Shaler. This incredible woman was a friend to all. A true lifter and the only thing that made grocery shopping bearable was running into her. She had been coming to the Shaler North Hills Library back when I was a teen, working there. She was always so encouraging, caring and interested. The Light of Christ shown in her so brightly, she didn't need to talk about her faith at all. One just knew she was devout and that He worked through her by talking with her. My heart was broken to hear the news. We have lost a true gem, but I take great heart in knowing we will see you again, Mrs. Madsen. Thank you for the friend you were and the way you served.Much love,IngShaler North Hills Library

To Marita's Family,
My wife Stacy and I express our sincerest condolences, and are heartbroken to hear of Marita's passing.
We met Marita by chance back in 2007 at an open house she was holding in Treesdale. We were just driving around looking at homes, and as we slowed in front of the house Marita was at, in her special way she took the initiative to invite us in. When we explained we were still basically in our pajamas, Marita said "oh don't worry about it". That marked a special point in time in our lives, because that moment was the start of a wonderful friendship that blossomed over many years.
For the next two years Marita continued to show us homes as they came on the market, and in 2009, finally (I imagine much to Marita's relief), we purchased our home. Marita was the consummate professional, but it should come to no ones surprise that she conducted her business in a most warm and genuine manner.
The closing on our house was not the even close to the end. Over the course of the next 7 years, up to her passing, we maintained in regular contact with each other - Marita watched us start and grow a family, attended our kids birthday parties when she could, we exchanged holiday cards and phone conversations, and periodically Marita would stop by the house for coffee and conversation. She was Aunt Marita, and our little ones knew it.
I suspect our tale our a very meaningful and warm friendship that developed out of nowhere is a story many can tell. Marita was a lovely person and easy to love.
Sadly, I missed a call from Marita about two weeks ago as she went into the hospital. By the time I listened to a voicemail I didn't realize I had, it was the day before or day of her scheduled procedure. By the time I returned the call two days ago it was too late.
Regretfully, I will be unable to attend services but Stacy will be there (and explain why i am unable to attend).
I can assure you that we will never forget Marita as she became a very dear friend to us and is someone we truly cared for and loved. She will remain in our thoughts and prayers along with all of you.
Sincerely,
Cindy Watts

She will truly be missed by me. I loved the times that I spent with Marita. What a great listener and conversationalist. Hearing her stories of her family in Germany and her sons adventures kept things very real, as she was, a real person. I am so sad and wish her family the best during this time.

A lost light from a wonderful bright spot in our Ruff family memories. The endless card games, parties, holidays, Marita's cheese cake, and the echoing sounds of her voice yelling "Ca-ris-tian" will forever be etched in fond memories from our past. Marita was the 4th Ruff sister-in-law, adored by Gramma, Papa and the entire family. What a special part of our lives. Marita was the additional aunt in our lives with the great German accent. I had the good fortune of also working with Marita, professionally, at Coldwell Banker. Marita, the aunt, was my favorite person. I could slip back into my childhood with her. God bless you Per, Chris, and Neals. Your loss is felt in my soul. I know Gramma and Papa were eager to greet Marita in heaven. They are, probably, playing Canasta and she's yelling at Pete! Love to you all!

My hear is broken! Marita was such a loving sweet spirited friend. Her laughter and sense of humor was contagious. Every time I would see her she had a funny story to share. She was a woman that knew and liked everyone. She would try so hard to find the special house just for you, even if it took years. I know from experience with her patiently looking for us.
The community will not be the same!
My prayers and condolences are to her husband, her boys, her siblings, her entire family and all of those that loved her.
She never let us know she was suffering!
Rest In Peace Sweet Friend.
An amazing woman!
