Christopher Kosor

Christopher R. Kosor West Newton Christopher Richard Kosor, 89, of West Newton, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg. He was born April 1, 1923, in Donora, a son of the late John and Anna (Pledjadin) Kosor. Chris was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and retired after working 31 years in the area coal mines. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in West Newton. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Theresa Margonari Kosor; two daughters, Sandra Olenick, of Greensburg, and Candice Smits and her husband, Jeffrey, of Portland, Ore.; three grandchildren, Terrilyn Tomaszewski and her husband, Matthew, Lindsay Cimballa and her husband, Christopher, and Jason Smits; three great-grandchildren, Madison and Mason Tomaszewski and Nicholas Cimballa; a brother, Joseph Kosor and his wife, Isabelle; a sister, Margaret Swetic; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Chris was preceded in death by seven brothers, Anthony, John, Peter (Ki), Matthew (Pike), Stephen, George and Donald; and two sisters, Anne Seliy and an infant, Mary. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the RICHARD F. DODSON MEMORIAL HOME, 213 Main St., West Newton. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in Holy Family Catholic Church with Father John T. Sweeney as celebrant. Interment will follow in the West Newton Cemetery.
