Dean Shoaf Obituary

Dean B. Shoaf, 70, of Latrobe, formerly of Youngwood, went home to be with his Lord and savior, Jesus Christ, Monday, Aug. 31, 2009. Dean served in the Army and was a talented artist. He used his artistic abilities to make numerous gifts for his children, nieces and nephews. He was an active member of Lifespring Christian Church in Greensburg, where he enjoyed volunteering with the Angel Food Ministry. He was born Feb. 11, 1939, in Greensburg, to the late Charles L. and Nellie Gray Shoaf. He was also predeceased by three brothers, Nevin G. Shoaf, Zane G. Shoaf and Lynn A. Shoaf. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia R. Haines Shoaf; a son, Eric D. Shoaf and his wife, Eileen, of Georgia; a daughter, Andrea R. Shoaf, of Latrobe; two grandsons, Patrick J. Bassi and his wife, Augustina, of South Carolina, and Giovanni J. Bassi and his wife, Noy, of Georgia; a brother, Myron L. Shoaf and his wife, Connie, of Ruffsdale; sister-in-law, Roberta Shoaf, of Inverness, Fla.; mother-in-law, Dolores Haines; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the C. RICHARD MCCAULEY FUNERAL HOME INC., Youngwood. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dale A. Adams officiating. Interment to follow at Beam Cemetery in Somerset County.
