Donald E. Bowman

1928 - 2016

Donald E. Bowman, 87, of Washington Township, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2016, at William Penn Care Center in Penn Township. He was born Oct. 23, 1928, in Salem Township, son of the late Albert and Irene (Watt) Bowman. In addition to his parents, Donald was predeceased by his beloved wife, LoDema (Jennings) Bowman. Donald is survived by his loving family, sons, Keith D. Bowman and his wife, Lois, of Export, Timothy S. Bowman and his wife, Karen, of Export, and D. Bruce Bowman and his wife, Shelley, of Export; grandchildren, Brianna Casini and her husband, AJ, Adam Bowman and his wife, Laura, Kara Jo Bowman, Nickolas Bowman, Brittany Bowman and Joshua Porterfield; and great-grandchildren, Addison and Alyssa Casini. Donald loved his feline buddies, Simba, who is now living with Brianna and family, and Charlie (deceased). Donald was known to be a loyal supporter of the Chrysler Corp., an avid reader and to his family, "the voice of reason!" He was a longtime member and deacon of Poke Run Presbyterian Church in Apollo, a 30 year member of Washington Township Planning Commission and a former baseball coach in Washington Township. He also was a 32nd degree Mason.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at BASH-NIED FUNERAL HOME, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont, 724-468-8381. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Poke Run Presbyterian Church in Apollo with the Rev. Peter Goetschius presiding. The Bowman family requests that everyone please meet at the church. Interment services will immediately follow at Poke Run Cemetery.
