Joan Klinger was an integral and valued member of the Department of Crystallography at Pitt. Her loyalty to faculty, staff, and graduate students were extensive and global - as an unofficial editor, den mother, and friend to all. Joan was an extraordinary woman and more than the usual office manager/secretary. Our memories will include her love of coffee, cigarettes, and fishing. To Joan's extended family, please know that she will be very much missed. She always talked about family and her many fishing trips. We, the children of Professor Ryonosuke and Teruko Shiono, send our condolences and our prayers. Chizu, Masako & Ryoichi Shiono.
