Born Nov. 5, 1943, in Natrona Heights, he lived there as a young man. He lived in Cleveland and later in Las Cruces, New Mexico, for a number of years. He moved to Arizona about a year ago. A 1961 graduate of Har-Brack High School, he went to New Mexico State University in Las Cruces. Drafted by the Cleveland Browns professional football team in 1966, he also was drafted by the Army, ending his football career. He served in Vietnam. Mr. Modzelewski was a self-employed builder in the highway construction business. An avid sports fan, he especially enjoyed football. Survivors include his wife, Barb Modzelewski; a son, Dan (Suzannah) Modzelewski of Phoenix; three brothers, Joe Modzelewski of Kennesaw, Ga., Ed (Joanne) Modzelewski of Sedona, Ariz., and Dick (Dottie) Modzelewski of Newbern, N.C.; and two sisters, Florence (Rich) Nowicki of Natrona Heights and Betty (Ben) Logan of Las Cruces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Martha Gosciak Modzelewski, and two brothers in infancy. A memorial service was Saturday in Chandler, Ariz. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Banner Health Foundation, c/o Eugene Modzelewski, Box 1897, Phoenix, AZ 85001-9940.

So sorry to the Modzelewski family Gene taught me this awesome toung clack when I worked with him in cleveland. Greatest Guy you would ever meet. Upside down Jack hammer worker. One tough man. VIET NAM copter gunner made it through his whole tour in one piece. Love to the Family. He will be sorely missed.
