Words cannot express my sorrow and condolences. John was my favorite professor. Jody, you are both in my thoughts.

John Delbridge had the most kindest and encouraging disposition to everyone. I met John at the Children's Home in Reagan Wells, Texas.
I would sometimes get some leftover dry food like biscuits to give to the passing "Immigrants" passing through Faith Ranch and John would come with me to meet the men and woman on their travels. When John knew that I spoke fluent Spanish to them, he was interested in learning Spanish and the Mexican culture that he majored in Spanish and became a far superior Spanish speaker than myself. I had difficulty with Spanish because my relatives spoke Ladino (a Judaeo-Spanish spoken by the Sephardim people).
He quit smoking when he went jogging with me to the third water crossing (3 miles away) and back. I told John that, upon completing my Navy enlistment term, that I had been diagnosed with Smoke Aversion Syndrome which simply meant that I avoided people who smoked although I was not allergic to smoke. John was happy to completely quit smoking. I am saddened by his passing as he was a very good friend.
The last time I spoke to John, I was hoping to take a long trip to visit him and his wife Jody.
I am sure that John has had a very fulfilled life and I know he will be missed by everyone who knew him personally.

I will always remember John as one who was so full of life and energy. This spirit carried through when I bumped into him on the then newly created Chambers Bay Trail. He was already on it and focused on doing the hills. I am sure they were not challenging enough for John. So, when I think I cannot do something, I think of that moment and know that John would at least want me to try. And, I find out that indeed I can. Thanks John!
Best wishes and God be with you Jody, as you transition through this mortal life. John will be right there with you.

We will always remember the days we served with John at Faith Ranch. What a wonderful time. John, thanks for loaning us your car when ours wouldn't run. And, to your family and friends - be blessed, strength and courage.
