Deloris Evelyn Ludden

Deloris Evelyn Ludden Passed away April 20, 2011 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. In her final weeks, she was surrounded by her large loving family in Sumner, allowing her to continue directing home-improvement projects until the day she passed away at 80 years young. Through her wonderful sense of humor, Mom shared smiles and laughter with all who knew her. Her six children will miss her immensely positive attitude, fun-loving spirit, expert gardening and painting know-how, extraordinary work ethic, and boundless energy. Born in St. Paul, MN in 1930, Jerry and Deloris moved to Sumner in 1959. Together they owned and operated Ludden's True Value Hardware on Main Street for 31 years. As only Deloris could, she ran the family business, sewed expertly, and accomplished home improvement projects inside and out, for herself and others who needed assistance, while caring for Jerry and raising six children. Deloris was preceded in death by her husband Jerome in 2008. She is survived by sons Steve, Scott (Shari), and Mark (Stacie), and daughters, Sherry Wicklund (Alan), Patricia (Scott Mason), and Colleen (Anthony Keith). She was an adored Grandma to 15 grandchildren. Deloris will have a private family burial at Sumner Cemetery on May 6. A celebration of her life will be held at the family home in Sumner when her magnificent rose garden is bursting with colorful blooms.
