Catherine Bombardier Obituary

Catherine Bombardier Catherine F. Bombardier was born in Tacoma on April 9, 1917; she passed away peacefully on May 11, 2011 at the age of 94. She was the oldest of three children born to immigrant Slavonian parents Martin and Francesca (Sestan) Polich. She was preceded in death by her siblings Mary Lucich-Scott and Frank Polich. Kay graduated from Lincoln High School, attended business school, and worked as a collection agent and then as a bookkeeper for the Carpenters Union. She married Orville Bombardier in 1939. They were married for 53 years until his death in 1992. With her husband, she raised six children: Richard, Karen, Jean, James, Charles, and Kathleen. Kay enjoyed entertaining friends and family at their longtime home on Bell Street and during the summers at their beach home at Dash Point. She loved to dance and enjoyed sewing, knitting, and doing many, many craft projects. Following Orv's passing she sold the family home and moved to Mesa, AZ, where she enjoyed the company of many friends for the next 10 years of her life. She moved back to this area to be near family and resided in Puyallup until her death. She is survived by her children Richard (Carol) Bombardier, Karen Reynolds, Jean (Lou) Haller, James, Charles (Michele), and Kathleen David; eleven grandchildren and their spouses; twelve great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law Margarete Bombardier; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. The family wishes to thank the loving and dedicated staff at Welcome Home Adult Family Home and Franciscan Hospice for their outstanding care and support of our mother. A Funeral Mass will be at All Saints Catholic Church in Puyallup on Tuesday, May 17th, 2011 at 11:00 am followed by a reception at the church and interment at Calvary Cemetery.
