MARY KENNY Obituary

Sister Mary Kenny, OSF Sister Mary Kenny, OSF, (84) died at St. Ann Convent, Tacoma, WA on December 16, 2013. She had been a professed member of the Sisters of St Francis for 63 years. Sister Mary was born in Dublin, Ireland and came to the United States when she joined the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia. Sister began her years in ministry in education, but ministered primarily in healthcare; first a medical record librarian at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, and later as a chaplain in California, Oregon and Washington. Her gift to others was her listening skills. She offered peace and consolation to the patients and their loved ones. Throughout her life she was dedicated to prayer. She shared her wisdom and brought hope to those she served. After 50 plus years she retired to St. Ann Convent where she continued her prayerful life. Sister Mary is survived by numerous nieces and nephews in Ireland, England and New Zealand, and by her Franciscan family. All Services will be held at St. Ann Convent, 6602 South Alaska St., Tacoma. A Vigil will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 6pm and the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 am on December 20, 2013. Interment at Calvary Cemetery.
