CECELIA MILLER Obituary

Cecelia E. Miller (Berger, Oakes) Cecelia was born in Timmer, North Dakota to Jacob and Magdalena Berger, and went home to her heavenly father, from her caring home at Heartwood in Tacoma, WA. Cecelia moved to Tacoma at the age of 19, and resided there for the rest of her life. Cecelia is survived by her husband, John Miller, of almost 44 years, sons Greg (Judy) Oakes and Randy (Michele) Oakes, stepsons Mike (Peggy) Miller, Pat Miller, and Dan Miller, stepdaughter Tammy (Frank) Russo, brothers Richard (Betty) Berger and Clarence (Verna) Berger, sister Kathleen (Red) Lanzc, eighteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband Rodney Oakes, son Tim (Mary) Oakes, stepdaughter Teresa Miller, brothers Ronny and Teddy, sisters Marie and Lorraine, and grandson Travis Duncan. Cecelia had a great love for gardening and feeding the birds. She will be greatly missed for the love and selflessness that she showered on her family and friends, her dances around the campfires at the lake, and riding old paint with the grandchildren. There will be a rosary with viewing at St. John of the Woods, 9903 24th Ave E., Tacoma WA 98445, on Thursday, February 17th, 2011 at 7:00PM. On Friday the 18th at 11:00 there will be a memorial service at the same address, with a reception to follow in the fellowship hall. A final viewing will precede the service from 10:00 to 10:50. All family and friends are welcome to attend. A private burial will be at the Tahoma National Cemetery.

Cecelia, we will always remember you as our other mother growing up in the North End of Tacoma. Our neighborhood Cub Scout leader and advisor. Even though you had three boys of your own to care for, you welcomed us in and treated us with respect. You raised a good family. You played a huge role in influencing us to do well for the rest of our lives. We all had many good afternoons after school at your house to talk and watch TV and a lot of great holiday parties too on you. My deepest sympathy to Greg and Randy, our good friends still to this day. We will miss you and mourn you forever. May you rest in peace. Mark Wuotila San Mateo CA.
