Daphne Mackey Obituary

Daphne Joan Halpin Mackey Died on June 18th in Federal Way, WA. Age 91, she was born in Surrey, England, and emigrated to Canada at the age of four. She grew up in Guelph, Ontario, where she met and married the Reverend George Thompson Mackey, who predeceased her. They moved to the United States in 1947. Reverend Mackey was the rector of Episcopal churches in Jeffersonville and New Albany, Indiana, and later in Louisville, Kentucky. She was a wife, mother, and accomplished amateur sculptor. In 1999, she and Reverend Mackey moved to Bainbridge Island. She is survived by her son Kevin Mackey and his wife Haydee Mackey of New Orleans, Louisiana, by her daughter Daphne Mackey and husband George Thompson, and by her beloved granddaughter Caroline Thompson, all of Federal Way, Washington. A memorial service will be held at the Madison Avenue Retirement Center, 285 Madison Avenue S, Bainbridge Island, at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 6th. A funeral will be held in September at St. James Episcopal Church in Pewee Valley, Kentucky.
