David Haas Obituary

David Taylor Haas (4/3/1993 3/29/2011) Left this soil to be with his brothers, Peter & Matthew, leaving the remainder of his family to mourn his life yet to be lived and thankful for the years we were able to love on him. This was posted on Facebook for David by a dear friend and it says it best: David Haas is a friend of mine; always will be. Despite our age difference, we forged a friendship; not one of an adult patiently enduring the company of a kid, more of two people respecting one another on balanced terms. He was not a teenager. He was a person-in-full. A young man and an old soul. As his friend, it was effortless to enjoy him. David had a dry sense of humor and a quick mind. He was the perfect combination of his parents. Intuitive. Quietly curious. Creative. Vulnerable. Smart. I'll miss his clean, soft-spoken, cut-to-the-chase view of the world. He did indeed love life-and understood its ironies and its paradoxes. He had a smile like no other; it made you smile too, even laugh when you reflected back on your time with him as I do now with a lump in my throat. The Haas family can be assured that David is and always will be loved (as are Peter and Matthew), his memory here-or in a place unknown-remains alive, and those of us who called him friend will never for get.

The story of your boys has touched my heart as "unbearable" for lack of a better word. As I heard about David I was at my church feeling the need to be with others as I had been overwhelmed with the study of the Suffering Servant in Isaiah knowing that Good Friday was just around the corner. Then your unbearable news was told. Jesus has been my main focus, His suffering beyond any recognition, etc. The Holy Spirit wanted me to see how your suffering too is beyond any recognition, no one can begin to comprehend your grief and pain. And yet tomorrow we will wake up to Easter morning; we will have the story of hope, triumphant hope. My prayer for your family is you will see that hope for each one of your sons. Our minds are finite and His is infinite. I will be thinking of you and your boys Easter morning and my hope and prayer is you will find peace and be consoled, if only temporarily on this glorious day of Easter, with His love and the pain He is feeling for your suffering.
